Elephant Armor® is high performance Mortar product made by “Global Sealer Technologies” (GST International). This product has many applications such as resurfacing concrete, repairing concrete, patching asphalt, overlays for stamped concrete and more.
In this article we will be going over American Concrete Services application of this product, on some townhomes in Arlington, VA.
Our client called with the complaint. Her concrete stairs were “crumbling in front of her eyes” and asked if we could help repair them. When we arrived the caps of their steps were effectively sand. However, we were able to take a $30,000 dollar job and turn it into a $3,500. That’s a total of $26,500 saved with the use of Elephant Armor®. Most importantly, this client owned not only the original unit but several others which had the same issue going on. We ended up repairing 5 staircases and 350 sq ft of patios and landings. Our clients paid a total of $31,000 something. If we had to replace all of the concrete, it would have easily been well over $150,000. By using Elephant Armor®, no HVAC units had to be removed and all areas were ready for foot traffic within hours of completion.
Unlike normal resurfacing products, Elephant Armor® is unique. Not only is it a fibrous mortar, but its bonder is Epoxy and not polyurethane like most mortars. This means, not only it is strong, and flexible, but it bonds well to surfaces, something most resurfacing products do not do. As a concrete manufacture, I have to admit my skepticism when I first learned of the product. However, after applying it for ourselves and seeing what it is capable of, I would and will recommend Elephant Armor® as a solution to anyone that needs to repair concrete.
